Acting Debut
Through a friend’s recommendation, I received a call the other day from a film student studying at the New York Film Academy’s school here in Paris (actually my friend was the teacher of the class). The student was doing his end of term project and needed a boy to play a small part in the short film that he wrote and is directing. We decided on Samir, as he needed someone around his age (10 years old).
We went into Paris on Tuesday evening and did the shoot at a spot near the Montmartre cemetary. Samir played the son of a man with some psychological problems. He encounters his father while he (the father) is being mugged and eventually stabbed. The son (Samir) kneels down near his father, tries to awaken him, then sees the blood on his hands.
Samir followed direction really well and did a good job. It was very short but a really cool experience. They are supposed to be showing the films tomorrow evening at the school. We plan to attend to view the film and the student said that he would give us a copy of the DVD.

The boys and I are definitely in summer sleep mode!! The boys generally go to bed around midnight and I go to sleep around 1 or 2am. Then we all get up around 10 or 11am in the morning. What a life!!!
