The daily life of a Moroccan/American family living outside of Paris.

Acting Debut

NewYorkFilmAcademy.gif Through a friend’s recommendation, I received a call the other day from a film student studying at the New York Film Academy’s school here in Paris (actually my friend was the teacher of the class).  The student was doing his end of term project and needed a boy to play a small part in the short film that he wrote and is directing.  We decided on Samir, as he needed someone around his age (10 years old).

We went into Paris on Tuesday evening and did the shoot at a spot near the Montmartre cemetary. Samir played the son of a man with some psychological problems.  He encounters his father while he (the father) is being mugged and eventually stabbed.  The son (Samir) kneels down near his father, tries to awaken him, then sees the blood on his hands.

Samir followed direction really well and did a good job.  It was very short but a really cool experience.  They are supposed to be showing the films tomorrow evening at the school.  We plan to attend to view the film and the student said that he would give us a copy of the DVD.

Camera Woes

P1010109.JPG I have had a love/hate relationship with my camera for about a year now - sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.  Of course, the ideal solution would be to just buy another one but we have not yet.  Anyway, it was not working when I went to the States for my niece’s wedding and it was not working when we were just in Morocco for BIL’s wedding.  Ugh!!!  I was playing around with it yesterday and got it working!!!  Just in time for our day out in Paris for Nezar’s birthday.  We took a boat ride on the Seine (something the boys have never done before), we walked along the Paris Plage (beach), and had dinner at a favorite place in the Latin Quarter.  It was a really great day!  You can see some more photos here.

Nezar thanks everyone for their birthday wishes!  He loves you!!

And hey - we forgot to wish a big Happy Birthday yesterday to Barack Obama - he also shares the day with Nezar!!

My Birthday Boy!

MY BOY
When I learned that you were coming I was sure that you would be,
the most wonderful and precious child that I would ever see.
I was fearful, but excited, I was anxious, but prepared,
to hold you in my arms and show you just how much I cared.
And when the day finally came, my heart was filled with joy,
to see that you were made for me, my perfect little boy.
Now as the years are passing, you surprise me everyday,
by showing me that I can love you in so many different ways.

Happy 12th Birthday to my not-so-little boy, Nezar!

And a Happy Birthday as well to my SIL Saida in Morocco - she shares the same birthday as Nezar.

Friends

friendstv.jpg My boys have become addicted to Friends!!  I have never watched the series before (yeah, I know, probably one of the very few on this planet).  We watched a couple of episodes while we were in Morocco this summer and the boys loved it!  One of the UK TV channels that we have carries the show every day, showing 2 or 3 episodes each time.  Well, the boys have been watching it every day!  -)

~ Brought to you by TNChick ~

I’m back!!  It has been a month since I have participated in the Photo Hunt - I’ve missed you all!!!  We (the boys and I) are back in Paris after our trip to Morocco (hubby is still there for a couple more weeks).  It was a good trip but always nice to be back in your own home.  -)

Below are several photos taken from our balcony at different times - all showing various clouds in the sky (sunsetting, stormy, sunny, and “jet”-made clouds)

What a Life!

sleepy panda.jpg The boys and I are definitely in summer sleep mode!!  The boys generally go to bed around midnight and I go to sleep around 1 or 2am.  Then we all get up around 10 or 11am in the morning.  What a life!!!  -)

Heading Home Soon!

The boys and I will be on a flight home late Friday afternoon.  We will be leaving Taza early in the morning as we will be flying out of Casablanca (about a 5-hour drive).  We took this flight as it only cost 83 euros for all 3 of us (a no-frills airline).  Could not pass up that deal!!!

So, we have the rest of today and tomorrow to spend here - I am soooooo looking forward to being back in my own home!

Will write again after we arrive home!  Ciao!

Quick, Quick, Quick!!!

Been a very eventful and busy week.  Will write so much more later.

Hubby and I had a huge fight last weekend - did not talk for a couple of days.  Resolved it now (all stemming from our original problems).  Had our 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday - nothing much that day but we did go out alone in the evening to get things back on track.

Wednesday, Thursday, and now Friday have been party, party, party for the wedding of BIL.  Really good time but oh sooooooo tired!!!!  Can you believe the boys stayed up at the main wedding party until 4am this morning?!?!

Mohamed and I are heading out in the morning for a much needed mini vacation (2 or 3 days) alone - the boys will stay with the in-laws.  (Nezar’s comment - Mama is all rules - staying with his aunts, he can do want he wants!!!)

Will try to update a little more when I return on Monday or Tuesday but will certainly write more when I return to Paris on the 25th.

Ciao! for now!!!

Happy 14th!!!
